Prayer Shawl

Published by gr8nurse at 8:05 am under crocheting Edit This

I believe I said in my first blog that I usually have 2-3 projects going at one time. I just started my 3rd project for the christmas season. At this time I have a chemo hat started, still working on the dedication outfit, and yesterday I started on a prayer shawl for a 4 month old.

Let me tell you a little about baby Claire. She was born August 30, 2008. Everything seemed fine at birth. Very soon after birth she started having problems. The Dr’s started testing to find the problem. They discovered she has a rare heart problem. She has undergone a couple surgeries, but they are unable to fix her heart until she is 2 years old. She was transfered to a high tech children’s hospital in Arkansas. I found out about Baby Claire from reading blogs, Crystal had a blog about her babysitters grand-daughter, Baby Claire. To read the complete entry click here. From Crystal’s blog you can go to Claire’s myspace and learn more. I have been checking on this baby several times a week. They have a site through the hospital that Jen updates several times a week.

I left a message on Claire’s hospital site and received an email from her grandma Bev. All tubes are gone, and Baby Claire is feeding from a bottle. They are planning to let her go home Christmas day as long as things are still going well. She has never been home. She will be 5 days short of 4 months. I’m hoping that when I finish her prayer shawl I will be sending it to her house and not a hospital.

Jen has had to wait 4 months to get to do what most of us mothers take for granted. Taking our newborn home and all the fun of discovering their personalities, their different cries and what they mean, and just showing off our new baby. Jen’s baby has lived in a hospital for the first 4 months, she has developed her personality in a structured environment.

If you have time please visit Claires site, and keep this family in your prayers. Prayer for strength, and good health, and remember to pray for Jen’s finances. She has also lived at the hospital, and been miles from home for 4 months. There are very few of us that could with stand 4 months off work, and not loss most everything we have. If you are wanting to make prayer shawls go to Waiting Room Ministry. There are crochet and knit patterns, prayer, and lots of information. These patterns are free.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. Keep Christ in Christmas and you can never go wrong.
